Removing Difficult Stains From Carpets

Spilled wine, ketchup, berry juice, etc., presents the panic induced question of how to deal with the resultant stain.  The first rule of removal is to know your stain.  If not sure what caused the stain, smell it.  Blot the stain to get up as much as possible.
The next step depends on the stain.  If it is wine, mix laundry detergent with lukewarm water or ammonia and blot the stained area.  Follow that treatment with some club soda and blot again.  If the stain is grease, use dry cleaning fluid, then blot with warm water and detergent.  Blot the area from the outside in.  Professionals like Crystal Clean Carpet Care in Kearney, Nebraska can be called for expert advice as well.
Blood stains are blotted first.  Pour a small amount of hydrogen peroxide on the stain.  Wait for it to bubble for a minute or two, then blot with lukewarm water and a towel.  Repeat again if necessary.  This works on clothing also.  Dairy and milk are culprits if children are present.  Just blot with a towel soaked in ammonia and warm water, then apply white vinegar and warm water.
